Emergency Endodontics in Midlothian, TX

Dental Pain Does Not Wait. Neither Do We.

Severe tooth pain rarely arrives at a convenient time, and waiting for it to resolve on its own is almost never the right approach. At Transcend Endodontics, Dr. Ai Tran prioritizes emergency patients so that people in genuine pain are seen as quickly as possible. If you are experiencing significant tooth pain, swelling, or trauma to a tooth, contact our office and our team will work to get you in the same day or the next business day.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

An endodontic emergency is any situation involving acute tooth pain, swelling, or injury that requires prompt evaluation and treatment. Common emergencies include a tooth abscess, severe infection, a cracked or fractured tooth causing significant discomfort, trauma to a tooth from an accident or impact, or pain in a previously treated tooth that has returned unexpectedly. If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, call our office. We would rather hear from you and help you determine the right next step than have you wait through avoidable pain.

What to Expect When You Call

When you contact Transcend Endodontics with an urgent concern, our team will ask a few quick questions to understand your symptoms and assess the urgency of your situation. We will get you scheduled as soon as possible and make sure you know exactly what to expect before you arrive. Dr. Tran will evaluate the affected tooth, review any necessary imaging, explain the diagnosis clearly, and begin treatment the same day whenever clinically possible.

Common Endodontic Emergencies We Treat

Severe Tooth Pain

Intense, persistent tooth pain that does not respond to over-the-counter medication may indicate an abscess or pulp infection. Dr. Tran will diagnose the cause and begin treatment to relieve your pain.

Dental Abscess

An abscess is a pocket of infection that forms at the root tip or in the surrounding gum tissue. It can cause significant pain, swelling, and fever, and requires prompt treatment to prevent spread.

Cracked or Fractured Tooth

A tooth that has suddenly cracked or fractured, especially if it causes sharp pain when biting, needs urgent evaluation to determine whether the pulp is affected and what treatment is needed.

Pain in a Previously Treated Tooth

A tooth that had a prior root canal and is now painful may have developed a new infection or complication. Dr. Tran will evaluate the tooth and determine whether retreatment or another intervention is appropriate.

Swelling of the Jaw or Face

Swelling that extends beyond the tooth into the jaw or face is a serious sign of spreading infection. This requires immediate evaluation and should not be left untreated.

Trauma to a Tooth

Dental injuries from accidents, falls, or impact can damage the pulp of a tooth even when no fracture is visible. Prompt evaluation helps determine the appropriate course of care.

Emergency Endodontics FAQ's

What should I do while I wait for my emergency appointment?

Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage discomfort until your appointment. Avoid chewing on the affected side. If you are experiencing significant swelling or difficulty swallowing or breathing, go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

We make every effort to see emergency patients the same day they contact us. Dr. Tran will evaluate your tooth thoroughly, explain what is happening, and begin treatment whenever same-day care is appropriate for your situation.

Signs of an abscess include throbbing or persistent tooth pain, swelling in the gum or jaw, a bad taste or odor in the mouth, fever, and sometimes a visible bump on the gum near the affected tooth. An abscess requires professional treatment and should not be left untreated.

In many cases, Dr. Tran can provide significant pain relief and begin definitive treatment in the first appointment. The number of total visits depends on the severity of the infection or damage and the complexity of the tooth anatomy. A full treatment plan will be explained at your visit.

Most dental insurance plans provide coverage for emergency endodontic treatment, though the extent varies by plan. Our team will verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins.
