Your First Visit

What to Expect at Transcend Endodontics

Your first appointment at Transcend Endodontics is designed to be thorough, unhurried, and straightforward. Whether you have been referred by your dentist or are seeking a second opinion, Dr. Ai Tran will take the time to fully evaluate your tooth, explain your diagnosis clearly, and walk you through every available option before any treatment begins.

Before Your Appointment
To make the most of your visit, please bring a valid photo ID, your dental insurance card, and a list of any current medications you are taking. If your referring dentist has already taken X-rays, please request that those be sent to our office in advance or bring a copy with you. Arriving a few minutes early will give you time to complete any remaining paperwork before your scheduled appointment time.

Your Examination and Imaging
Dr. Tran will begin with a comprehensive clinical examination of the affected tooth and surrounding tissues. In most cases, digital X-rays or a cone beam CT scan will be taken at our office to give Dr. Tran a detailed, three-dimensional view of the tooth’s root structure and the surrounding bone. This imaging is essential for accurate diagnosis and precise treatment planning.

Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Once the examination and imaging are complete, Dr. Tran will explain exactly what is happening with your tooth, what your treatment options are, and what each option involves. She takes time to answer questions honestly so you leave your consultation with a clear understanding of the recommended path forward and what to expect at each step.

Treatment at Your First Visit
In many cases, treatment can begin at the same appointment as your evaluation. If your situation requires it, a separate appointment will be scheduled. Most root canal procedures are completed in one or two visits, each lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes. Local anesthesia is used throughout to keep you comfortable, and sedation options are available for patients who prefer additional relaxation.

After Your Visit
Following treatment, Dr. Tran will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions and answer any remaining questions before you leave. A summary of your treatment will be sent to your referring dentist so they can coordinate your final restoration. Our team is available by phone if any concerns arise during your recovery.
